Shoot-At-Sight Order An Opportunity To Massacre Igbos - Group

An order by the Inspector General of Police to shoot-at-sight in the southeast has been described as another ploy to massacre Igbos.

The Inspector General of Police has been accused of having a plan to execute another pogrom against Igbo people with his shoot-at-sight order.
 
The claim was made by an Igbo sociocultural group, Igbo National Council (INC) Worldwide.
The group, in a press release signed by its National President, Chilos Godsent, said that the shoot-at-sight order has led to the deployment of Nigerian military to the Southeast and this, according to him, had caused loss of lives of the citizens of the zone.
 
The release further said that the Buhari-led civilian junta has, through its security Chiefs, deployed battalions of “blood thirsty Fulani killer police and military special squad to Igbo-speaking nation, to arbitrarily arrest people, torture them and also shoot at sight in a bid to reduce their number and put them on political standstill.”
 
“We are aware of the desperate efforts by the Fulani cabals to use the federal force to intimidate, attack and conquer other nationalities in Nigeria as part of their project to fulanize and Islamize Nigeria through the arm conquest.

“We therefore urge all Nigerians to rise against this satanic agenda being desperately championed by the federal government.

“Nigeria is a secular country and must remain secular.

“Mr. President should be reminded that history has it that no amount of brutal violence or state repression can stop a people from achieving good governance and development through self-determination.

“Rather, violence only breeds violence. We therefore wish to reaffirm that the ongoing militarization of the Igbo nation and the massacre of the unarmed civilians will worsen the security situation in the country ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We demand that the government stop arbitrary killings of the Southeasterners and adopt peaceful dialogue in order to resolve the crises in some Igbo-speaking states including Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers and Benue states respectively.”
