Following his recent bashing of Nigerian politicians and the political institutions, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has ignited a serious online debate.

Former Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi has caused a serious debate online after he condemned Nigerians for celebrating criminality. He further condemned the way politicians govern the affairs of the people.
He blamed the frivolous spending habit of some governors and politicians who spend money showing off instead of concentrating on delivering the dividends of democracy on their lack of integrity and purpose.
He made the observation while speaking at The Platform, a program organised by the Covenant Christian Center on Saturday in Lagos. He stressed that Nigeria is rich and insisted on cutting cost of governance if Nigeria must progress to a higher level.
Obi also condemned how religious leaders are now celebrating corrupt politicians especially when they know the person has no viable source of income.
He also advised governors to scrap the Office of the First Lady as he said it is unconstitutional. He said, “It costs an average of N2 billion to run the office of the First Lady in every state in Nigeria. Multiply by 36.
“Nigeria can still function on its income if only we learn how to cut cost.
“We need to cut the cost of governance. No governor needs a house in Abuja; governors don’t live in Abuja.”
But, Nigerians have described his speech as hypocritical since he was once a governor and never did anything about most of the things he started while in office.
