Popular Nigerian Author 'Celebrates' Corruption in His New Book.....See Thought-Provoking Details

As President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC invokes the ill-wind of anti-corruption to sweep unscrupulous public office holders in Nigeria; this book could help re-orientate the generality of the people about the cancer of corruption in the polity.

In the year 2012, Nigeria was estimated to have lost $400 billion to corruption since independence on the 1st of October, 1960. This gargantuan sum excludes the 'legal' corruption under the military regime and the reported bazaar during the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Foremost Nigerian newspaper, Punch also reports that within a time-frame of 17 years; politicians, civil servants and army generals have stolen an unforgivable sum of N37 trillion. What about other slush funds that can't be traced yet?

And one man, an international writer based in Abuja and the United States of America named Onajite Tagbarha Malcolm believes there is something 'good' about corruption?

"He must have woken up from the wrong side of his bed" inquisitive minds wonder.

Mr. Malcolm, a seasoned author from the South-south part of Nigeria has aroused the curiosity of Nigerians with his brain-teasing book titled ''Everything good about corruption"

The scholarly work full of intrigues and suspense that tends to beat the perceptibility of the reader with its narrative technique laced with facts and figures is an irony of its title. Mr. Tagbarha Malcolm in a recent interview with a newspaper shed more light on his fast-selling book famed for its 100 'blank pages'.

Part of the excerpts read;

What inspired this idea of a blank book?

"I was inspired to package and publish this intriguing book based on the fact that corruption is a very serious issue in every nation worldwide.  This prompted me to make my point strikingly in an unusually different way from the conventional way of writing about such critical issue yet still make a very powerful statement.  I had to deliberately bypass the consciousness of the reader to convey my message through the blank pages.
Since Nigeria and other developing countries are be deviled with corruption, there is need for us as responsible Nigerians to contribute our quota towards righting the wrongs in our nation by changing the mindsets of our citizens."

What is your honest view about corruption?

"Corruption is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of every sphere of our nation, to the extent that an average man or woman sees corruption as a normal phenomenon. Corruption and corrupt tendencies has become a way of life. This is so sad and we can't continue like this. For us to develop and grow as a nation, we need to deal decisively with this monster right from our homes where the lives and foundation of the citizens are shaped. The central message of the book is that, “There’s nothing eternally good about corruption. And this is conveyed on every single page of the book."

How do you rate the anti-corruption drive of the present administration?

"The anti-corruption drive of this administration is going on pretty well, though it is being criticized by people who feel the administration is targeting certain people from the opposition party. I believe our president should do more in this regard in order to dispel this notion, starting with members of his cabinet and political party. However, you will agree with me that since the inception of this administration, it has not been business as usual. Things can only get better anyway."

Also share the process of publication of the book and how it been received.

"There is a popular saying that,”If you want to hide anything from a black man, package it and put it in a book", It is in this regard that I wrote, "Everything Good About Corruption". I decide to hide every good thing about corruption inside the book, since the black man craves to be rich and wealthy yet don't like to read.

I was inspired to come up with the blank book concept based on the fact that corruption is a very serious issue worldwide and I decided to make my point strikingly in a different way from the conventional way of writing about critical issues such as corruption and still make a powerful statement.  I had to bypass the consciousness of the reader to make my point without words. There is nothing eternally good about corruption.
Since Nigeria and other developing countries are be deviled with corruption and ineptitude, there is need for us as responsible Nigerians to contribute our quota towards righting the wrongs in our nation by changing the mindsets of our citizens."

The book ends with a strong inference that there is nothing eternally good about corruption. Apart from corruption as its central theme, it also widens the horizons of Nigerians about means of unlocking a world of fortune and possibilities with ground-breaking ideas.
