Father Stabs Wife to Death Over Disagreement Who Should Collect Money Paid for Daughter's Dowry

A man has brutally murdered his wife over disagreement on the dowry money paid by his in-laws for their daughter's hand in marriage. 

 
A shocking incident has left a woman dead after she was stabbed by the 54-year-old husband on Sunday.
 
According to a report by the Kenyans, the man stabbed his wife in front of their children at Subuku village in Nyandarua North Sub County, Kenya, killing her on the spot.
 
After killing her, the father of eight then sent three of his children to report him to the area Assistant Chief Mary Kahiri.
“The three children came to my home and told me that their father had sent them to bring the report that he had killed their mother. I called a neighbour to accompany me and after rushing to their home we found the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood, while that of the man was hanging from a rooftop,”Ms Kahiri was quoted by the Nation.
 
Explaining the cause of the murder, Ms Kahiri said the couple engaged in a dispute over their eldest daughter's dowry an issue that had led to their separation about a month ago.
 
Ms Kahiri divulged that the two reconciled a few weeks before the tragic incident happened.
 
"They had trouble over a dowry price that was paid for their eldest daughter a few months ago, and they quarrelled frequently over the money leading to the separation,” she said.
 
According to Nyandarua North police boss Timon Odingo, the wife had several knife wounds on her body. Investigations into the incident have since been launched and the bodies of the deceased taken to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary.
