Photos: Woman Shoots Her Ex Daughter-in-law to Death in Front of Her Children

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a woman has been shot to death by her ex mother-in-law.

Elizabeth Betsy Wall

63-year-old Elizabeth Betsy Wall, from McRae, Ga., is accused in the shooting death of her former daughter-in-law, Jenna Wall, late Thursday morning in her home in Powder Springs, Ga.

According to 11 Alive, the shooting was inside Jenna Wall’s home while her children, the suspect’s grandchildren, were there.

“It’s just awful what happened,” one neighbor said.“And we just love her. We are just mourning, right now.”

Neighbors said their beloved friend Jenna Wall, a kindergarten teacher at Kemp Elementary School, had been going through a difficult divorce.

They also said that her estranged husband is an investigator with the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office and that Jenna and her two young boys moved back in with her parents, in her childhood home in Powder Springs.

Her home is where she was shot to death late Thursday morning.

Cobb County police interviewed Jenna’s boys and then took her former mother-in-law - the boys’ paternal grandmother - into custody.

By late afternoon, police charged Wall in the shooting.

A neighbor who asked that her name not be used, has known Jenna since she was a teenager.

“And she used to babysit my children and there wasn’t a day I haven’t seen her out front with her children playing basketball and - just such an involved mom, and just a blessing to our neighborhood,” the neighbor said.

Another neighbor remembers Jenna as someone who would lift spirits just by being around.

“The laughter, the joy - I just loved it,” the neighbor said. “She will be your friend the moment you meet her.  And she was a great teacher.”

Her two boys, ages 6 and 8, were not hurt.

Police said they believe they know the motive but were not ready to discuss it yet.

Elizabeth Wall is facing charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and cruelty to children in the third degree.

Wall had her first appearance in Cobb County court via video link Friday morning. The judge could not set a bond and scheduled the next hearing for July 12 in Superior Court.
