The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB),
would this week, hold the rescheduled examination for
candidates who missed the recently concluded Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This is coming after the board’s apology at the weekend,
over the inability of some candidates to write the
examination due to the relocation of their examination
centres by the board, which affected 59,000 candidates.
Speaking to Daily Sun yesterday, Public Relations Officer
of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the rescheduled
examination would not involve all the 59,000 candidates
that were relocated.
He stated that the examination would be held this week
but declined to give the exact date.
“We are still expecting the exact date but it will be held
before Friday this week. The candidates will be
communicated through SMS.
“We are not re-conducting examination for all the 59,000
candidates that were relocated from one centre to the
other. We can say that if, as a result of the relocation, it
affected any candidate’s examination, such a candidate
will be rescheduled for fresh examination.
“But it is not all of them that will write the exam; only
few of them that missed the examination as a result of
the relocation. The total number of candidates that were
relocated is 59,000, but those that missed the exam
may not even be up to 10 percent of that number. Those
ones that came and couldn’t locate their new centers,
and, as a result of that, missed the examination, are the
people we are rescheduling their examination,” he
explained.
