The Yoruba Council of Youths (YCY), an umbrella
body for Yoruba youth organizations has criticized
the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for “displaying
the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob” as regards
the current legal tussle with Senate President,
Bukola Saraki.
Speaking during a press conference held in Abuja
on Monday, September 21, 2015 the YCY directly
accused President Muhammadu Buhari of
orchestrating Saraki’s ordeal in order to delay the
constitution of a cabinet so as to continue running
the country alone.
YCY President, Aremo Oladotun Hassan, who
addressed a press conference criticised the CCB
and CCB for acting out the script given to it by
President Buhari in desperation.
He said: “We challenge the ways and manner of the
sudden crude methodology and hasty wake of the
CCB and CCT to have bracingly ordered the
Inspector General of Police to arrest Senator Bukola
Saraki, without due diligence fair-hearing exercise
of its inherent powers, over allegation of 2003
declared assets, conclusively raised the suspicion,
doubt and act of omission, which informed the
questionable intentions, impregnated with deceits
and indirect high-handedness veil of the CCT.
“This portends great danger, that for CCB to have
waited this long at the peak week of September

Buhari’s proposed ministerial nominees, another
attempt to postpone and elongate the appointment
of Ministers.
“We vehemently resist all attempt to drag the
hallowed seat of the Senate President and Dr.
Bukola Saraki into the mud and mucky waters of
nepotism, witch-hunting and blackmail, predicated
on politically motivated power tussle and
shenanigans of the internal APC party permutations
of sharing formula of offices amongst its divided
tents that formed All Progressives Congress (APC),
which is the nucleus genesis that caused the
current show of naked fire-powers and deadly
force of shame; displaying the Hand of Esau and
Voice of Jacob syndrome.”
The YCY also condemned Northern elders who
called for Saraki’s resignation, asking Western
leaders to speak against the prosecution, warning
that “if this precedence is allowed to sail through, it
will embolden the orchestras to cause more havoc,
and no one will be insulated from this recycled style
of leadership, leaving all of us in the helpless torture
chamber and humiliation, in the prey hands of this
political mafias and cabals.”
