Former Edo Governor Appointed Visiting Scholar at Boston University African Studies Center

Godwin Obaseki, the former governor of Edo State, has been named a visiting scholar/researcher at Boston University's African Studies Center in the United States.

The center, which is a part of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, announced the appointment in a statement released on Wednesday.

The organization claims that Obaseki will take advantage of the chance to evaluate the achievements and difficulties of the programs and policies put in place during his eight years as Edo State's governor.

According to the institution, the study is anticipated to yield insights that could direct public officials engaged in transformative leadership and economic reforms throughout Africa.

The former governor was welcomed as an active member of the African Studies Center's academic community, according to Nimi Wariboko, director of the organization.

According to him, Obaseki's connection to the institution would allow him to interact with academics in order to improve his research framework and compare his policy approach with other models from around the globe.

Additionally, the ASC will benefit from his association with Boston University. His final product, a book manuscript, will make a substantial contribution to the scholarly output of the ASC.

He added, "His presence will also revive the historic practice of the ASC hosting notable African public leaders who served with distinction and are willing to share their knowledge and experience with the Boston University community."

Obaseki responded to the nomination by describing it as a chance to record the tactics used during his administration and reflect on his years in office.

He was quoted as stating, "I am thrilled by this appointment and the privilege it affords me to be part of this world-class university."

Obaseki went on to say that Boston University's intellectual setting will offer the perfect setting for introspection, teamwork, and idea sharing on growth and government.

Scott Taylor, dean of the Pardee School of Global Studies, also commented on the appointment, saying it was a privilege for the school to welcome the former governor and encourage his thoughts on African political economy and public policy.

One of the oldest organizations in the US devoted to studying Africa, the African Studies Center was founded in 1953 and is a significant center for research and scholarship with an African concentration.
